These images are from a shoot we did with Perry of Extreme Couponing TLC fame this month for Inked Magazine. Check it out on the new stands now.
We have been really busy lately, hence the lack of updates. A couple new ad campaigns under our belts, a brand new website launching in the next day or so, and a gallery show of bikes and photography of Classified Moto at Stardust NYC last week.
We should also mention that we are a 2012 Webby Honoree for Best Use of Photography with the work we did for Classified Moto and Big River Advertising.
A new video we worked on with John Ryland for Classified Moto.
Thanks to Cindy Hicks, Devin Bousquet, Bill Grishaw and Jeff McManus. And of course, we could not have done it without our difficult actors Patrick Biedrycki and Kristy Heilenday. Everyone dug deep to create a perfectly awesome train wreck of a commercial, straight out of 1982.
Look for it in unexpected places in the future — or the past — whichever comes first.
Recently spent another afternoon at the machine shop with Ryland, taking a few pictures of all the machinery that they use in their day to day operations. Part of a continuing series of what goes into Classified Moto.
Always great to be going through old files and spot something you didn’t see before. This is from an advertising shoot a couple years ago on the water course at the Michelin test facility in South Carolina.
I’ve ridden thousands of miles with John Ryland. And I’ve shot a lot of those miles. A bike silhouetted against a summer sunset. Rust on a fuel tank forming the perfect patina. Wheels turning a mud hole into a chocolate spray. It has all gone through the lens of my camera.
John builds these great motorcycles from parts he finds all over the place. Using his artistic vision, he takes half of a Kawasaki and half of a Yamaha and turns it into a whole new story. It always impresses me to see the next one of his creations.
I tell my stories with images, however, and those images cover everything from the start of Classified Moto to yesterday afternoon’s ride. Whether we were cruising a desolate highway in Virginia or climbing a mountain in Colorado, I try to document a little bit every one of those journeys. I now have thousands of photographs, from John’s nicked and grease-stained hands building a carburetor to sparks flying from welding a frame to his personalizing the bottom of one of his wild bike-part lamps. It has been my privilege to ride and shoot beside my good friend for the past couple of years. And if you go to John’s new website, classifiedmoto.com, you’ll see why. I hope my own passion comes through in every one of those shots.
I don’t do a lot of self promotion. I let my work speak for itself. But when Big River here in Richmond asked if they could use my images to build a seriously kick-ass digital experience for Classified Moto, I was pretty stoked. This site is a labor of love for everyone involved. That’s what you do for friends. You ride beside them no matter where the road leads.
Pike’s Peak 2011. The culmination of a 5000 mile motorcycle journey out West and back earlier this summer. These are some shots of the motorcycle practice, leading up to the main event of the 89th Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb.
